Agra is home to the monument of endless love, located on the river bank of Yamuna in Uttarpradesh state. Agra invites a lot of tourists due to the famous Mughal era monuments. History

Agra was found in the year of 1504 by Sultan Sikandar Lodhi. Agra was known to be the centre of power of Mughal Empire. The great monument, Taj Mahal was built in 1653 by Emperor Shah Jahan. In 1803 the city fell into the hands of British Raj until the independence of India.

Taj Mahal, when you think about India this should be the one comes to your mind first. Yes its one of its kind across the world, no wonder its one among the seven wonders of the world. This was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife and it took 17 years (1632- 1648) and about 20,000 workers to complete the construction. Marble is used as the main building material, rare collection of precious and semi precious stones are used for inlay work in this great monument.

 

Fatehpur sikri and Agra fort were built by the Emperor Akbar in the Mughal era. These magnificent architectures allow one to have a peek into the past.
